Turkey Bolognese
One of my favorite things to make on the weekend.
Maybe 20 minutes prep and then you just let it simmer and check back every 30 min or so for a few hours.
Makes enough for my family to have quick healthy homemade sauce on a fast week night. Just boil some water, heat up the sauce and you're 15 min away from dinner!
Ingredients
1lb ground turkey (browned)
2 cans of crushed tomatoes (40+ oz total)
1/2 onion (diced)
4 cloves of garlic (minced)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 TBS Oregano
1 TBS Garlic powder
1 TBS Onion powder
1 TBS Thyme
1 TBS Parsley
1 TBS Basil
Salt & pepper
Directions
In a large pot, heat about 1/2 TBS of EVOO
Brown the ground turkey
Add salt and pepper to taste
Add diced onion & garlic
Sauté for a little
Add in crushed tomatoes & herbs and spices
Turn heat way down and leave it be for about an hour.
Check flavor - add as much of the herbs as you would like.
I try to let it go for at least 3 hrs - but I have gotten away with 1 😉
I generally take 1/2 and put it in the fridge and 1/2 in the freezer for next time!
Whole wheat pasta and you have a very healthy meal!
